If you're here, it's likely because we've met, or because someone we both know and trust sent you my way.
And if you found your way here another way entirely, welcome. You're probably meant to be here too.
What's actually happening here?
It's a deceptively simple question I've been asking since I was six years old, boldly asking questions in my father's university lectures, and throughout the span of my nearly 30-year career.
In law. In negotiations. In regulation. In conflict. In rooms where decisions were high stress and high stakes. And in the moments when what we think is happening and what is actually happening may not be quite the same thing.
What else is here? And what might become possible if we could see more of it?
I want to know. Don't you?
What I Actually Do
I work with leaders, advisors, founders, professionals and organisations at consequential inflection points: those moments when something is shifting, something important is at stake or what has worked until now may not be enough for the speed and scale of what's changing.
Sometimes there's a consequential decision, a negotiation, a conflict or a transition. An idea taking shape. A relationship affecting what happens next. An opportunity you don't want to miss. A change you know you want to make, even if you're not yet sure what it looks like.
Sometimes something is stuck: a relationship, a team, a deal, a regulatory or commercial challenge, or what has worked brilliantly until now no longer quite fits the world you're operating in.
Sometimes nothing is wrong at all. There's simply a sense that there's more available: a bigger possibility, a different way forward, something you want to create, or something that doesn't seem possible from where you currently stand.
Sometimes you're dealing with the loneliness of holding a great deal of complexity for everyone else, and you need a safe, confidential place of your own with someone who has your back, where you can put the whole thing down, see what you may be missing and work out what you actually want to do.
And sometimes you simply want more.
More money. More possibility. More joy. More fun. A bigger idea. A bolder experiment. Something you want simply because you want it. The chance to see just how good this could get.
In practice, that could look like:
A founder, entrepreneur or leader with an idea, opportunity, partnership or offer they want to explore, develop, make commercially interesting and ultimately make real.
Someone ambitious and very good at what they do, going after the partnership, executive role or next big opportunity, or newly in it, who wants someone in their corner who has their back as they navigate what comes with it. The strategic. The commercial. The relational. The personal. The political. The human.
A firm or organisation trying to understand its sanctions and AML exposure across jurisdictions and decide its risk appetite, policies and next moves, while accounting for its clients, its people and the realities of their individual practices and responsibilities.
A consequential negotiation where what is being said, and what needs to be said, is only part of what's actually happening.
A litigation, regulatory or commercial matter where the technical answer matters enormously, but the technical answer alone won't solve the problem.
A CEO, partner or senior professional who has been very good at what they do for years, but has realised they're increasingly unhappy in a life that looks remarkably successful from the outside. The responsibilities are real. The money may be good. People depend on them. Walking away isn't simple. But neither is pretending they still want what they once worked so hard to get. They want to find out what else might be possible.
A relationship between founders, entrepreneurs or leaders that everyone is dancing around and that is quietly affecting the business, the people or what becomes possible next.
A person or organisation building, negotiating or working across countries and cultures where different assumptions and expectations about authority, relationships, risk, communication or what constitutes an agreement are quietly shaping what happens next.
Someone ambitious and accomplished professionally who quietly feels they're not doing nearly as well at home, and wants to find a way of holding both the personal and professional in a way that feels good, without giving up what matters.
Some inflection points we choose. Others choose us.
About Me
Hi, I'm Bomi.
I've spent nearly three decades as a legal advisor and strategist. I've been lucky enough to have lived, studied and worked in six countries across four continents, and my professional work has reached considerably further, involving multi-jurisdictional matters across countries, legal systems and cultures around the world. Most of my work has been in high-stress, high-stakes environments: from negotiating multimillion-dollar settlements involving Fortune 500 companies and major financial institutions in the London insurance market, to advising international firms, boards and financial-services clients on regulation, sanctions, anti-money laundering, governance and risk.
Ultimately, I became a trusted thinking partner not only to clients, but to the people whose own work was to advise, strategise and help others make consequential decisions.
Advisor to the advisors. Strategist to the strategists.
A trusted thinking partner long before I thought to call myself one.
And throughout it all, I've been interested in a deceptively simple question: What's actually happening here?
The law gave me one particularly rigorous way of looking and helping clients make decisions. What are the rules, express and implied? What was actually agreed, and what is merely assumed or expected? What is required, and what have we simply decided should be? Where does the risk sit, and who is carrying it? What interests are really at stake? What is negotiable? What isn't? What options haven't we considered? What happens if we act? What happens if we don't? What will actually work in practice? And what might be the intended and unintended consequences?
But those were never the only things happening in the room.
There were relationships. Commercial realities. Power. Identity. Ego. History. Fear. Hierarchy. What people wanted. Their desires and deeper motivations. What was being said and what wasn't. What people knew, assumed and expected. The human undercurrent shaping decisions and what each of us could and couldn't see.
And moving and working between countries, cultures, languages, professions and systems has taught me not to assume that what seems obvious, normal or simply "the way things are done" in one room will look the same in another.
Years of coach training and practice have added another discipline to the way I work. I'm an ICF-credentialed coach at the ACC level, but what matters most to me about coaching is not the credential. It is the discipline of not confusing expertise with knowing what is right for another person.
Coaching taught me to listen differently. To stay curious longer. To ask rather than assume. To resist rushing in with an answer simply because I have one. And to remember that the person in front of me knows things about themselves, their circumstances and what they want that I never could.
Complex situations rarely arrive neatly divided into legal, commercial, strategic, political, relational, personal and human problems. Neither does my thinking.
I'm interested in all of it.
And in what becomes possible when we work together and stop treating those things as separate.
In my legal and compliance work, that's meant turning functions often perceived as nay-saying cost centres (departments and people to be avoided or worked around), into trusted partners in the business. It's meant bringing different perspectives and expertise together to solve complex problems none of us could solve as well alone.
That's still how I work.
Today, I'm the person who helps you see and hold more of what matters: the legal, the risk, the commercial, the relationships, the human and, importantly, you.
To see what you may be missing. Get clearer about what you actually want. Discover choices and possibilities that weren't visible from where you stood before.
You bring what you want and what only you can know, see and sense from where you stand.
I bring over 30 years of experience, judgment, pattern recognition, perspective and cultural fluency. I'll ask questions that widen the aperture. I'll tell you what I see. I'll offer ideas. I'll provoke your thinking. I'll invite you to see differently, see more.
None of us individually can see the whole.
Together, we see more.
And then we work with what we find in pursuit of what you're trying to make possible.
That might mean making a decision, developing a strategy, having the conversation, making the ask, trying something, or taking the next move.
That's the work.
01
The Room
Before anyone says a word, something is already shaping the room.
The formal rules. The unwritten rules. Power. History. Relationships. Hierarchy. Incentives. Identity. Ego. Fear. Desire.
What's said and what's unsaid.
What's known, assumed and expected.
And what we don't yet know or see.
And we're in the room too. What we see, assume, want, fear and how we participate are part of what's shaping what happens next.
It's all in the room.
What is it making possible? What is it making difficult, or even impossible, to see, say or do?
02
The Undercurrent
There is always more happening than what's being said.
Become curious about the undercurrent: the assumptions, interests, competing interests, relationships, rules, emotions, fears, patterns, pressures and possibilities operating beneath the obvious, including what we don't yet know is there.
Because once something comes into view, we have something new to work with.
03
The Shift
See More. Have more available. Make more possible.
When we expand what we can see, we expand what we can work with.
A different perspective. A different question. A truth finally spoken. A rule made visible so it can be changed. Another person's brilliance brought into the room. Something we thought was either/or becoming both/and, or something we haven't yet imagined.
The shift isn't toward one right answer. It's toward greater range: more of what is actually here, and more of ourselves available to meet it.
That's how we make shift happen.
So, what do you want to make possible?
A decision you want clarity on. A conversation you need to have. An ask you want to make. An opportunity you don't want to miss. More money. An idea you want to make real. Something you want to begin, change or leave.
Maybe you know what you don't want anymore, but you're not yet sure what you want instead.
Or perhaps nothing is wrong at all, and you're simply curious about how much more might be possible.
Sometimes you need a sharp pair of eyes on one consequential situation. Sometimes you want a place to practise, experiment and expand your range. Sometimes you want someone alongside you for a longer chapter. And sometimes a team or organisation wants to see, work or create differently together.
Strategic Advisory
Think it through with me.
A focused 90-minute session for the consequential decision, negotiation, opportunity, idea or situation you can't stop thinking about, or the possibility you can see the edges of but can't quite see clearly enough yet.
We'll look at what's actually happening, including what you may be missing. We'll get clearer about what you want, what matters and what else might be possible.
And we won't stop at insight.
You'll leave with a shift in how you're seeing the situation and something concrete to carry forward: a decision, a next move, a strategy, a conversation to have, an experiment to try or a plan for what comes next.

What's Happening Here? is where I follow the questions I can't quite leave alone: something I've noticed, an assumption worth interrogating, a rule we may not realise we're following, an experiment, a contradiction, or something I thought I understood and now I'm not so sure.
There is always more here than any one of us can see.
More information. More perspective. More of ourselves. More possibility.
The work isn't to arrive at one perfect view of reality.
It's to have more to work with as we meet it.
To choose. To ask. To negotiate. To create. To lead. To relate. To change our minds. To change what needs changing. To pursue what we want. And sometimes to imagine something that wasn't available from where we stood before.
What's actually happening here?
I don't have a crystal ball, so I don't know yet.
And together, I bet we can get into a whole lot of good trouble finding out.
